WELCOME
Welcome — we’re so glad you’ve found us.
The Institute for Immigrant & LGBTQ Justice (IILJ) is more than a research institute; it’s a home for ideas born from experience and a movement shaped by evidence. We exist to study, understand, and transform the systems that define health, education, and justice for immigrant and LGBTQ+ communities.

Our research begins where most stories are overlooked — in the lived realities of those who carry both courage and complexity. By pairing rigorous analysis with human insight, we create data that speaks, policy that listens, and solutions that heal.

We believe research can do more than inform — it can restore. It can open doors, shift power, and remind us that dignity is not granted; it is inherent.
And this is only the beginning.
WHY WE EXIST
In a time defined by discrimination, division, and widening inequity, truth itself has become a battleground.

Immigrant and LGBTQ+ communities- too often spoken about rather than with- stand at the heart of that struggle. Our realities are reflected in data but are omitted from decisions. Our stories are cited in reports but absent from the systems that shape our lives.

The Institute for Immigrant & LGBTQ Justice exists to change that.
